We ARE PROUD OF THE WORK WE DO - but we ALSO WANT TO do things the right way for the right reasons.

That is why we have developed The Diddu Way. It is nine simple points to keep us on the right path. In no particular order (except with safeguarding first - because that is always the way it should be) …

The Diddu Charter

1) We are regularly in schools, and we frequently support schools and their communities through delicate situations. We ensure that every member of staff understands their safeguarding responsibilities and the relevant processes and procedures.

2) We are no secret millionaires, but through the Diddu Fund we put a small amount of money aside each month to help fund enrichment activities in schools. From sending mascots into space to covering the cost of transport for trips, we try and help out where we can!

3) We want to work for clients and organisations we believe in - and we do our best to introduce good people to good people.

4) For every 10 invoices we send out (ish) we plant a tree in the Scottish Highlands to reduce our carbon footprint. This is still pretty new, so we are building our tree count, but you can check on our progress by visiting: https://treesforlife.org.uk/groves/diddu-communications-ltd/

5) Where practicably possible, we make sure we make environmentally conscious decisions. Our energy suppliers, for example, are chosen because they provide renewable energy. We encourage clients to think about recycling when making print choices, and travel and transport choices are informed by their carbon emissions.

6) We can’t do our job without fully understanding the sector, nor should we shy away from helping out our local schools. Diddu employees are encouraged to sit on trust boards, governing bodies and PTAs.

7) We put families first! We work hard and care passionately about what we do for schools - but we are also mums, dads, partners, siblings and offspring. We do what we can to make sure that we can be there for those that matter most.

8) We treat people as people, and champion the causes of those who are under-represented and face possible discrimination.

9) We deal with serious and complex issues, and we treat those with respect. We also love what we do and, when the time is right, make sure that we do our job with a smile on our face!

OUR VALUE

Every organisation should have values, it helps form who you are and how we communicate.

For Diddu, however, we think there is one key one that is at the heart of our team:

Empathy - the ability to understand and share the feelings of another.

Education is not about processes and structures, it is about people and lives. That is why, to do our job effectively, we need to understand the people and communities we work with. There are no set formulas, as every person we talk to, and every school, college and institution we deal with, is different. Getting under the skin of that is the building block of every piece of work that we do.

Furthermore, it helps us to appreciate and celebrate diversity, and acts as the basis of how we work as a team. Nobody is a machine. We all have families, personal lives and backgrounds – and respecting that makes us good colleagues, friends and clients.
